What is a rechargeable LED work light?

A rechargeable LED work light provides portable working light without requiring a permanent mains connection. Because there is no mains cable restricting the position of the light during battery operation, a portable work light can be moved quickly from one working area to another. Compact models are also convenient when working in confined spaces or when the light needs to be transported frequently.

The luminous flux in lumens indicates the amount of light produced by the work light. For mobile use, size and weight can also be important, while work on larger areas may require higher light output or several light sources. If the work light is used in demanding environments, the appropriate IP rating and the manufacturer's specifications for the intended area of use should also be considered.

How long does a rechargeable work light last?

The runtime of a rechargeable work light depends primarily on the battery capacity, the light output and the selected brightness level. Operating a work light at maximum output generally requires more energy than using a reduced brightness setting.

Models with several switching or dimming levels therefore allow the balance between brightness and battery runtime to be adapted to the task. The actual runtime varies from model to model, so the technical specifications of the individual work light should always be checked.

How many lumens does a rechargeable work light need?

How many lumens are required depends on the size of the working area, the distance between the light and the surface, the positioning of the work light and the type of work being carried out.

Compact rechargeable work lights with a lower light output can be suitable for close-range tasks, while larger construction or workshop areas may require considerably more light output or several light sources. The lumen value should therefore always be considered together with the light distribution and positioning of the work light.

What IP rating should a rechargeable work light have?

The required IP rating depends on the environmental conditions in which the rechargeable work light is used. The IP code indicates the degree of protection provided by the enclosure against contact, foreign objects and water.
